Health benefits of giving up smoking

One in two lifetime smokers will die of the smoking habit. Smoking deaths in the UK run currently at more than one every 5 minutes - and not just from lung cancer!

As a smoker you'll know that of course, but did you know that…

  • Only 20mins after stubbing out your cigarette, cigar, rollie... your blood pressure and heart rate return to normal?
  • 8hrs later your nicotine and carbon monoxide levels are halved, and the oxygen level in your blood is back to normal?
  • Within 24hrs carbon monoxide has been eliminated from your body and your lungs are clearing out mucus and other smoking residue. Breathe easier now!
  • 48 hrs after your last cigarette your body is free of nicotine! Stop smoking with hypnosis and you'll find you won't feel any cravings for it! Your sense of smell and taste will improve. Don't worry about weight gain, have a look in the Stop smoking FAQ's about this.
  • 72 hrs after you stopped smoking you'll notice your energy levels increase. Bronchial tubes relax, so don't be surprised if any physical activity feels a lot easier now!
  • 2 - 12 weeks after you quit smoking your circulation is markedly improved. If you suffered from cold hands and feet you'll find this much improved now.
  • 3 - 9 months after your last cigarette coughing, sinus problems, wheezing and breathing problems are markedly improved.
  • 5 years after quitting the habit the risk of a heart attack is about half that of a smoker.
  • 10 years after you stopped smoking the risk of a heart attack is that of a non-smoker and you're only half as likely to develop lung cancer as a smoker is. AND by now you'll have saved about £15,000 that otherwise would have gone up in smoke! And that is if cigarettes never went up in price!!!
